Artist Statement
As an artist and creative I have always worn a wide variety of hats. In college I changed my major several times dipping my toes into everything from photography to sculpture. After graduating with a BFA in sculpture from MSUM I experienced some serious burn out. I had been stretching myself so thin for so many years I couldn’t even recognize my burn out as I was experiencing it. This caused me to step away from art and making all together for several years. Through a journey of personal development and hard work I have revived my passion for life and all things creative.
Making is an integral part of my identity and I strive to celebrate the beauty of life through my work. I have habitually explored installation based sculpture in addition to many new pursuits. These pieces have often drawn from organic form. Movement and the environment play key roles in much of my work. Outside of sculpture I also make hand painted bleach dye apparel, watercolor and acrylic painting, and beadwork. An amalgamation of all these media make up the full picture of my making practice.
Currently, I belong to the The Loon Collective artist studio where we are working to create a communal space for like minded making. More information about The Loon Collective can be found on our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/loonboys_collective?igsh=NHlsMXhtbjE2Ym8z&utm_source=qr
